Q: What is a Roleplay?
A: Roleplay is between two people or more. You two, have a role, and you play it.
EX:
Person 1: Sally gracefully walked down the sidewalk. "Hey!" She yelled as she saw her friend, John.
Person 2: John turned around to see Sally. "Oh- hey Sally!" He said.
Remember, if you pause between the roleplays to say something un-roleplay, be sure to use OOC (out of character)!
Q: Wait.. where do I roleplay?
A: There is three different Roleplay Categories, they are made for a reason. Look further to see where you go.
Beginner Roleplayers
- you talk in chatspeak
- you don't have the best grammar.
- you don't use complete sentences.
- you only have about 1-2 sentences per post.
- you use no describing words
EX:
Person 1: i walkd across the street with my friend. "oh, kylie, i gtg. cya later"
Person 2: "ok daniel" i said
Intermediate Roleplayers
- you use very little chatspeak
- you have very little mistakes in grammar and spelling
- you use complete sentences
- you have about 2-4 sentences per post
- you describe very little at a time
EX:
Person 1: I walked down the glittering sidewalk and saw John. He turned around and smiled. "HEY JOHN!" I yelled and ran over. He hugged me.
Person 2: Sonja had a smile on her face. "I haven't seen you in forever!" I said to her.
Advanced Roleplayers
- you use no chatspeak
- you have no errors, whatsoever.
- you DESCRIBE all the time
- you use full paragraphs per post (4-7 sentences or more)
EX:
Person 1: The park was filled with excited dogs and smiling children. I took a look around for my friend, we were meeting up here, at this spot. Was I here on the right time? My hand jolted out of my pocket and I stared at the watch. 11:15. Right on time. Where was she?
Person 2: RIINNGG! RIINNGGG! My alarm clock yelled in my ear. I slammed it as hard as I could and stared at the time. What? 11:15? No.. it couldn't be. Oh no! I was supposed to meet Sarah now! Scrambling to my feet, I picked up my clothes and jumped in and out of the shower.
Q: What are some RP terms?
- OOC = Out of character. You can take a break from it. But to go back in character, look at the next term.
- IC = In character. You can go back to playing your role when you use this.
- PBP = Play by post. Follow the roleplay as it is. Don't change the subject, unless you use OOC.
- NPC = Non playing character. Like.. you can play the town's shopkeeper, a snail on the sidewalk, anything. Be sure to use IC to go back in character.
- Free form = There is no plot. No storyline. It plays as it is.
- Structured = The roleplay has a storyline, and it sticks to that.
Q: Can we cuss/kiss/etc?
A: Yes, and no. If you read the rules in the desired RP, and it says no cussing/etc, you can't. But if it says you can, you can. Easy?
Q: What is godplaying?
A: Godplaying is having your character invincible and nothing can stop him/her.
Q: What is powerplaying?
A: Powerplaying is controlling other people's characters.
EX:
Person 1: Joey jumped on Bob's back and Bob cried.
WRONG! This is POWERPLAYING. What if Bob didn't want that to happen?
Person 1: Joey aimed to jump on Bob's back, and he jumped.
Person 2: Bob saw Joey coming to jump, and dodged right in time.
This is CORRECT and is not powerplaying.
